Fixed Asset & Capital Equipment Manager | Winona, MN
The Fixed Asset & Capital Equipment Manager oversees the full lifecycle management of company-owned assets, including vehicles, bulk tanks, buildings, equipment, and leasehold improvements. This role ensures accurate asset accounting, regulatory compliance, proper allocation to branches, and strong internal controls. The position partners closely with Finance, Operations, Tax, Risk, Sales, and branch leadership to optimize asset utilization, reduce risk, and support capital planning. The role also coordinates the ordering and billing of large equipment purchased for resale to customers.
 
Primary Responsibilities
Fixed Asset Accounting & Compliance
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and supporting documentation.
  • Manage depreciation, capitalization, and compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal policies.
  • Lead fixed asset close activities, reconciliations, and audit support.
  • Partner with Tax and external auditors on asset reporting and valuation.
Asset Management & Reporting
  • Assign and track assets by branch and business unit.
  • Produce reports and dashboards on asset utilization, depreciation, and trends.
  • Reconcile physical inventories with the fixed asset ledger.
Lifecycle & Operational Oversight
  • Manage asset acquisition, tagging, transfers, disposals, and retirements.
  • Partner with Operations and Branch Managers on asset needs and lifecycle decisions.
  • Support repair vs. replacement analysis and asset condition reviews.
Process Improvement & Controls
  • Improve and automate fixed asset processes and systems (ERP, inventory tools).
  • Maintain internal controls, conduct physical inventories, and support audits.
  • Coordinate quarterly cylinder audits and collaborate on insurance valuations.
Capital Equipment Ordering & Billing (Resale)
  • Coordinate planning, ordering, tracking, and billing of equipment sold to customers.
  • Ensure alignment between purchasing, delivery, and invoicing across departments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–7+ years of fixed asset or related accounting experience; industrial/distribution environment preferred.
  • ERP and fixed asset system experience (Epicor preferred).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and Excel skills with a process-improvement mindset.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for safe and timely transportation of products.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to commercial driver guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist with other duties in the Fill Plant as required.
  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination and working relations with all MWSCO employees
Other Requirements:
  • Current Class A CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with hazardous material endorsement.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain tanker endorsement also required.
  • Two or more years driving experience preferred. Experience in a welding or industrial supply business also preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills; exhibit strong commitment to serve both internal and external customers in a professional manner.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and move products or materials weighing 100+ pounds with the assistance of material handling equipment.
  • Regularly lift 50 pound cylinders on/off skids as needed (manipulate/dead lift of weight).
  • Frequent kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting.
  • Regularly work outdoors under all weather conditions.

Primary Duties
Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
  • Pick, pack, load, and deliver product to customers.
  • Maintain established stock levels at customer locations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customer personnel.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to customer questions and concerns.
  • Assist with operation and repairs of vending machines as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge to educate customers on industry products and standards.
Shipping & Receiving
