Purchasing
Accounts Payable Clerk | Purchasing Department, Winona, MN
Position Summary
The AP Clerk is responsible for verifying, preparing, and forwarding purchase orders. The AP Clerk also verifies receipt of items, authenticates pricing, authorizes payment, and contributes to the overall departmental success through effective retention of internal and external customer relationships. This position requires an individual, who has the ability to work independently, is able to work under pressure, is analytical and has excellent problem-solving skills.
Primary Duties
- Responsible for maintaining all purchase order data for the purchasing department
- Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders
- Maintain and project the professional reputation of MWS through all internal and external customer interactions.
- Authorize payment of invoices or return of property
- Maintain master vendor accounts
- Receive and screen phone calls and direct to correct personnel
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or Associate’s Degree or two or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge Requirements
In depth understanding of customer service philosophies. Knowledge of general accounting principles and understanding of the general ledger accounts and how they relate to invoices. Candidate will understand and adhere to departmental and company safety regulations and warehousing procedures and enjoy working in a fast-paced physical environment. Must be knowledgeable at an intermediate level in Microsoft Office

What You'll Be Doing:
- Delivering and selling welding-related products to loyal customers in your route area
- Loading your truck with care, and safely managing deliveries to businesses or warehouses
- Using your people skills to build strong relationships and help customers with what they need—right from the truck
- Handling paperwork like invoices, order requests, and delivery confirmations
- Listening to customer feedback and sharing it with the team so we can keep improving
- Ensuring accurate pricing and safe cylinder exchanges each day
- Rolling with changes—no two days are exactly alike!
What You'll Need:
- A valid Class B CDL with HAZMAT endorsement
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Great communication skills and a passion for customer satisfaction
